I must have been a New Yorker in a former life. I am quiet content going in and out of my house and being left alone. In fact I ran in to a classmate while at Starbucks one day, he apparently lived down the street from me. Really? I say. I can't believe I haven't ran into you before. His response, Oh I see you at Jewel all the time, I even waved once, you just always looked forward (like you never saw me) or pissed off. Geez.
Anyway, that is not the norm “out here” (I will have to stop saying that or Hubby is going to go crazy!). I lived in our city apartment for 6 years, there were people who had lived there the whole time who never even smiled at me, let alone said hello. Yesterday two sets of neighbors came over, one looked like they were going to bust, like the had been holding themselves back from greeting us! One was across the driveway, so I expected that sooner or later especially since they have small kids too. But the other ones came across the street just to introduce them and say hello to my husband and daughter who were outside playing. Who does that? This is going to take some getting used to...culture shock is officially setting in.
