All I want for Christmas is peace.
Oh I know you get that all the time, but I'm not talking about Peace, like between Arabs and Israelis or all over the world, although that would be nice. I'm talking about a few smaller moments of peace.
I would like 5 minutes of peace in the morning. While the coffee is still warm, the cat is not meowing or puking and the kids are still sleeping, and oh it would be great if it could happen after 7 am and if I could have at least 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep before hand.
I would like to have fun in peace. Without fighting kids. Without snarky or snotty mommies. Without games (unless their the fun ones!). Without having to spend an arm and a leg per person to get in, without having to plan months in advance, and I would like the kids to have as much fun as me and vie versa.
I would like a peaceful dinner that does not involve noodles covered in neon orange cheese. I would like the kids to eat peacefully and quietly and everyone to like the meal.
I would like peace at the holidays. I would like the holidays to be held on the actual holiday with everyone present. I would like peaceful day where the kids behave, the adults behave and everyone goes home happy. A day where there are just enough presents and where everyone is polite and respectful of each other and where the adults whine less than the children (yes Santa I know who my families, is I know...maybe you should work on the Middle East, it may be easier!)
But most of all I would really like peace of mind. I would like the peace to know that the next year filled with uncertainty, ups and downs, hope and joy will be okay. That we will be okay and get through it all.
But if that's too much to ask, how about just that 5 minutes of peace with a warm cup of coffee...I'll even take it without the full nights sleep.
Thank you! I'll be waiting with a plate of warm cookies just for you!
