Old School Photo Friday

I'm participating in DumbMom's Old School Photo Friday, why? That's back here

We were married in 2001, no this will not turn into a wedding post. We don't have digital photos from our wedding. We had an amazing photographer who took great pictures on film, FILM, and than hand developed the black and white ones. I know we were so Old School.

We did get a digital camera as a gift though. Which was great because we were going to Italy for our honeymoon. So now I get to revisit my honeymoon with DumbMom.

Stop 1: Milan

This is the view of the courtyard from our hotel (I can't figure out how to erase the time stamp in Picassa and I don't have adobe, sorry). It was such an awesome old Art deco hotel where we got real keys that you left at the front desk. It was perfect. Just how I would have imagined it. (note, this was my first experience outside of the US).

I think this is down our street, it was 10 yrs ago and the digital photos aren't labeled. I also had 8, 10, 12? Rolls of film, remain digital was brand new to us. Those are in an album (unlike my wedding) with details.

I remain being amazed at how much just like any city it was. I guess I had this (wrong) assumption in my head that Italy was some strange foreign place, and it's really night. Although we did stay in the fashion district so it was a little strange to be surrounded by only skinny, beautiful people in heels. I stood out like a sore thumb (or an American tourist).

See? There police hang out and chat just like our. Only they are all svelte and ride motorcycles and have stylish uniforms, they just look cooler.

Oh and there are way more cats:

They were all over one of the castles we visited. This one kept following us. We would walk, stop, turn around, there he was.

This was a favorite when in Milan:

It's a doorknob. How classy is that?

I love seeing pictures of Italy! It's been a few years since I was there last. I need to go soon :)

I miss Europe so much! When I lived there I just wanted to come home. Now, all I want to do is go back! Guess I should read your happy post more often!
