Putting Art in Little Hands {Baby Einstein Review and Giveaway)

When I had my first child I fell in love with Baby Einstein toys. Not only did my child love them. I loved them. If for nothing else hearing a strain of Bach 7million times a day was far superior than hearing all the other annoying buzzing songs that the other toys made (note when your the first to have a child everyone buys noisy toys, I love paying them back when they have kids!).

We received a box set of all the DVDs for my sons first birthday. It was one of those gifts that I would never have bought myself and was skeptical of but have grown to love. Even at 3 and 5 my kids will still choose some of the Baby Einstein DVDs for their TV time because the like the poems (Baby Shakespeare) or watching the animals (Baby Neptune).

I was contacted by Baby Einstein to review their new discovery kits. With a new baby on the way I am was very interested to see how they would update and change the series as well as reacquaint myself with the brand. My initial thought was that I would have over some friends with younger kids since my youngest is 3, she’s a little old (I thought) for the kits. However since no one wants to have their kids don a Haz Mat suit for a playdate we watched it alone.

We received a Level 3 Discovery Kit, World of Colors which explores colors and expression. This is a repack of Baby Van Gogh, which we own, with some changes to the DVD. Each kit comes with a DVD, CD, and a book or Discovery cards, ours comes with a book. I love that it comes with the CD. When my kids were much younger I used to play the music from some of the DVDs and I always wished they all came with music only tracks.

{Mommy he has a bandage on his ear! Because Van Gogh cut off his ear- a detail I love!}

The whole family loves the board book, even my 5yo, because it includes actual Van Gogh paintings. So it allows me to sit with both the kids and work on colors with the youngest and talk more about the art with my oldest.

You can watch a video and learn more about the kits at The Baby Einstein site.

I know that these kits are going to end up on this new babies wish list!

Oh my gosh..I NEEEEED one of these kits! I just went to Baby Einsteins website and was watching the previews for all the kits with my 10 month old and she was going CRAZY!..laughin, "talking", jumping around..she loved it, and it was only a small preview on the computer! I think her favorite was the Wild Animal Safari..though she really liked World of Words too. If I don't win this then i am definitely going to have to buy it for her ASAP!

I love art... so that colors one is right up my alley. But I'd give it to my nephew (who is almost 1)... I would be hard pressed not to choose the safari one - after all, we call him our little monkey! :)
