Winter has officially hit the Midwest. It’s cold, I mean really cold (wind chills 30 below today!), snowy, slushy, salty, wet, yuck. For years my husband has made fun of me for my lack of appropriate footwear. Last year I got a pair of sweater lined wellies and while they were dry, they weren’t warm and they didn’t last. By the end of winter they were cracked and leaking in water (probably because they weren’t made for the extreme cold!).

So this fall I set out to find warm, comfy, stylish boots that could get wet and dirty. A conversation started on my Facebook page and the consensus was this. We (my mom friends) wanted the warmth and comfort of Uggs without looking like we were trying to cling to our youth. We wanted to look grown up and well Uggs, they were for the younger crowd. However no one had found a boot that was stylish and warm. Everyone decided that you could have ugly warm or stylish and cold.

Well no more friends. Step away from the Uggs and step into style.

I was sent the Jade to try back in the Fall, before it got really gross. First, you should order from them simply because the package comes from England and comes marked “Royal Mail”. Everyone women should get shoes in the mail that are Royal! Upon opening the box it was a breathtaking site of chocolate suede lushness, even my 3year old (shoe lover in the making) was oohing and ahhing over them:

I immediately put them on and wore them around my house for a week! Now as Sarah and Hyacynth have mentioned I had a problem with sizing. However I blame myself entirely. I am pregnant. Which means my feet are a little unpredictable. With each child my feet got really big. In fact after my last child my feet officially went up a half size (yes I sobbed as I got rid of all my too small shoes). I was also used to buying cheaper brands (Target) and buying them a half size bigger. So I just bought the size I had been buying without using the size charts. So my boots were too big, even for boots. I was able to exchange them with no hassle, no problems. There was a sticker in the box, I left them for my mailman and my new ones came a week later.

They were perfect.

I have worn them everywhere.

With leggings, with jeans tucked in, with jeans not tucked in. They are so comfy that my 8.5month (feeling like 11yrs) pregnant feet even wore them to waddle around a Christmas Exhibit with my family (2+ hours of walking) and my feet didn’t hurt!

Are they warm? Well they will be tested to the extreme today (did I mention the negative 30 wind chills?) but I did wear them when it was 19 degrees outside with no socks (NO SOCKS) and my feet were nice and toasty. So yes, they are warm!

I was a little worried about the suede. I mean, water, snow, ice, salt, yuck. I have a pair of (not Hotter) black suede boots and they tried to sell me protecting for them (I didn’t buy it) and they are dull and spotted. My Hotter’s, still look great!

This is after being in the snow/salt this am. I can "buff" w/ a towel any smudges off them!

This is after 3 months of pretty heavy wear. I am seriously in love with these shoes. My only compliant was when ordering I couldn’t get a good idea of how tall they would be on me because there were no pictures of them on peoples feet. The heading says ankle and calf boots but I would have preferred a picture. I have chicken ankles, even when pregnant so I don’t usually wear ankle boots because they always look too big, like I am playing dress-up with mommy's shoes. However I really liked these, I think the slouch style helps. I have worn them with leggings and I can definitely see wearing them with skirts when I can fit in skirts again.
