What is love?

This is a sponsored post from Tiny Prints and Global Influence, please see end for full disclosure.

I'm sure it's just because I'm old, but I have had this song stuck in my head since starting to work on this over the weekend. I'm sure at least one of you out there can sympathies, and if not, don't tell me!

Valentines day is just around the corner. It's one of my favorite holidays, I love it. I love making the day special with my kids and filling the house with red and pink. We celebrate with little things like heart shaped sandwiches and bigger talks on love and loving each other. With the arrival of our Valentines Baby this year (2-17) it will be even more special and filled with love!

One of my favorite things about being a parent is learning from my kids their views, thoughts, and opinions on everything around them. I learn as much from them as they learn from me. So I asked them, What is love?

What is Love?
Mmmm....hmmm....(wish I had a pic but my battery was dead, she put ones finger on her chin and tilts her head up and to the side and rolls her eyes up thinking very carefully and hard).I don’t know that word, it’skind of hard. Love is a really long word that I can’t say and I don’t know what it is.

Is it a thing?

Can you hold it?

Can you feel it?

Never? Can you feel when people love you?
Yes. ummm...I don’t know.

Is there something you love?
Monkey (brother)

Can I have a kiss?
I’m going to give one to Monkey- off she runs.

What is Love?
Love is....something that you love somebody so much.

Can you describe it more, without using the word love?
Blank confused stare.

Is it a thing?

Can you hold it?

Can you feel it?

Can you give it?

Okay, can you describe it now?
That’s all I know to describe it.

What you can give it, feel it, hold it. That’s all I know

What do you love?
Peanut (sister)

Do you know anything else about love?
Head shake

That’s it, so simple, yet so big and so complicated. Something that children can know and understand so completely even when there are no words to go with it. They don’t need to be able to describe, because they feel it. Everyday. In warm embraces, helping hands, clean sheets, and hot meals.

What is love to you? Is it simple and kind? Complicated ans stormy? Too hard to put into words?
