Welcome to Bigger Picture Moments where we share the harvest of intentional living by capturing a glimpse of the bigger picture through a simple moment. Your moment can be anything, a photo, a poem, a story, however you need to remind yourself to slow down and relish life.
Live. Capture. Share. Encourage.
We went on vacation this past weekend. It was more comedy of errors than rest and relaxation. It may have been a disaster, but it was also...
..the first time in weeks (months?) my husband and I have been able to talk for more than 5 minuted uninterrupted (thank you in car DVD!!!!!)
...the first time in weeks that all five of us spent any time together as a family of five other than at the dinner table
...the first time in weeks (months?) that we did something and occupied the same space as a family of five other than Church on Sunday’s. Which still often finds us separated. Me in the cry room the kids with friends.
It may not have been all fun.
There may have been more snot, more tears, more cursing than we would have planned.
However there were small moments. Little sister being a big sister. Big brother being a leader and entertaining them all. There were short hikes and cuddles in bed. But most importantly there was us.
A family of five.
Often separated by the demand of a baby, and school, and work, coming together. Enjoying each other’s company or a least tolerating it. There was no where to go. No schedules to keep. No people to see.
Just us and our little family.
Which is why we do these crazy hard vacations. Even if it’s just a different sink for our dishes it’s still time with no obligations spent together as a family. To remind us who we love, why we love and that we will never be alone.
Simply being together as a family, that’s my Simple Moment, Bigger Picture this week. What’s yours?
