The Write Start

WritersNightstand
“Everyone has a story”

I wrote that down last night in my sons old notebook from first grade, right under another quote about writing the truth, write your life. Then this morning Brook posted this as the Monday's Creative prompt:
In the word's of Mr. Morris Lessmore, "Everyone's Story Matters", so today WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR STORY.
I have embraced the desire and longing to be a writer. I have filled pages with notes and ideas and the beginnings of stories here and there, but I rarely find the time to sit and writer, just write. Not for a blog post, not for an article, but just to write those ideas further. To take the thoughts and stretch and mold them into the shape of something tangible and whole.

I decided last night, on the eve of the first day of school (praises!) that as my house returns to a state of routine and order, with quiet periods during the day that allow me think that I need to start writing. It doesn’t have to ever see the light of day, it doens’t have to perfect, it doesn’t have to be special, I just need to write.

So last night I started reading The Memoir Project I read the words above and I set out on a mission to write. This morming’s prompt just reinforced my decision. Like a nudge from the universe saying do it...tell your story.

So today I started working on that first idea that started so long ago, today I start on my first attempt at writing a book. No one may ever read it, but all that matters is that I took the time, sat down and wrote it.

This: "It doesn’t have to ever see the light of day, it doens’t have to perfect, it doesn’t have to be special, I just need to write." - yes, yes, YES! I totally get this. Writing, for me, is as natural and as much a part of me as breathing - it's just part of who I am. And so I continue writing my story, as long as God gives me a story to write. Also, all these books are now on my Amazon wish list. ;)
