I had many visions of what life would be like as a parent, most are far from my reality. One thing I never expected was to be a gold medal contender in the parental relay.
You don't compete daily in a parental relay?
We never really expected to either. While we want to foster our children's interests and talents we've tried really hard to not become "too busy". Each child is only in one extracurricular activity at a time.
Well that was easy when they were in preschool, but with two kids in full day school now our afternoons look a little, well they're, hmmm, let me draw you a picture:
Repeat 2-3 times per week. Sometimes the location of the swap and who gets who changes. Football plays may make more sense.
It's like an Olympic style relay race only the baton is our children and we are racing in a half hour time limit against suburban traffic. I think this may be harder!
The first week was rough. We're ending our second week now and we are getting into a rhythm, moving more smoothly.
It's not what I envisioned parenthood would be, but it's working. It reminds me once again, that you just never know how you'll handle something or what you'll do until you're in the thick of it.
Simply making it work, that's my Simple Moment, Bigger Picture this week. What's Yours
Harness the moment. Write it down, share a picture, a poem or prose. However YOU need to process and remember the moment. All moments big and small.
Link up yours at Alita's! this week.
