Going through the Dirt to find Me {Dirty Girl Mud Run Chicago}

My mind and my body has been through a lot the last 3 and half years. Sometimes when I see pictures I honestly don’t recognize myself. While I would like to think I look like this:

The reality is that I feel I look like this:

I miss running. Taking time for me and feeling strong. It’s time for that to end and it’s not going to happen sitting at home pinning images of great looking clothes. So to get my butt in gear I have signed up with some of my Little Lake County Writers to run the Chicago Dirty Girl Mud Run

I know. CRAZY.

Hopefully it’s Crazy fun!
The Dirty Girl Mud Run is the original women-only mud run series. The reason I was interested in running this one as opposed to any of the other obstacle course runs was that it’s fun, untimed, non competitive run. From Dirty Girl:

Dirty Girl Mud Run challenges women to break from their routine for a day, get out of their comfort zones, get dirty, and accomplish something brand new – all while having a blast. Every one of the obstacles—from the “Utopian Tubes” tunnel crawl to the “PMS (Pretty Muddy Stuff)” mud pit—is optional, so participants can skip anything they find too difficult. Forming teams is encouraged, and so are crazy team uniforms. A Dirty Girl Mud Run comes with excitement, laughter, and camaraderie—as well as lots of music, food and drinks. From start to finish, it’s an unforgettable event and an incredible teambuilding experience.
Dirty Girl events attract thousands of women in each city they stop in, and they expect to reach over 350,000 participants by the end of 2013.

The other reason I liked it was it commitment to charity. In 2013 Dirty Girl is expected to donate $300,000 to breast cancer charities and all cancer survivors run for free.
