Share with our readers the inspiration behind Style from the Sticks:

Before I became a stay-at-home mom, I worked in publishing and advertising.  But I also had a deep seated love for fashion.  I began Style from the Sticks because I saw an avenue to merge my love of fashion and writing.

Where do you find your style inspiration?

Everywhere!  Celebrities, movies, magazines, old photographs, friends, my closet!

Where do you shop?

I shop everywhere. Literally. Thrift stores, Wal-Mart & Target to local boutiques, mainstream chains, outlets, and more high-end designers. I am not too proud to shop anywhere. That is half the fun!

How do you remain budget conscious and stylish?

Being budget conscious means finding sales and shopping off seasons. But it's also about using all the pieces in your closet. Most of us have a pretty deep closet. It's just about recognizing sometimes what you already have and putting it together.

Do you have a favorite item you add to every outfit?

Don’t forget the accessories.  It’s like buying a beautiful Christmas tree but not adding any ornaments.  The accessories are what make an outfit special.

What is one trend you’d like to try and one you would NEVER try.

I’m loving the midi rings!  I’ll be purchasing those soon.  And I am seeing the denim overalls back around again.  I just can’t go there.

What trends are you seeing for spring?

Baby pink jeans, button up shirts, cropped jackets, wide legged pants, and collarless jackets.

Are there any style rules our readers should follow?

Don’t always start an outfit with the same piece of clothing.  Try starting with a pair of shoes you don’t wear often or a necklace you love.  If you always start with the shirt, you may limit your options.  What is the point of having all those beautiful things in your closet if you never wear them?

"As a busy mom, I know how easy it is to get stuck in the yoga pant rut.  But your clothing is a way to express yourself and show the world your personality.  Be creative and true to yourself.  Don’t be trapped by trends.  Remember that you feel good when you look good.  You only get one life to look your best!"
